The programme is to include a dialogue about the future of film, with three former artistic directors of the festival and a range of professional activities organised together with associations and figures in the industry.
After announcing different parts of its programme —Official Selection, In Focus, Ricercata, X Films and Txinparta— Punto de Vista continues to reveal details of its forthcoming edition as it makes public Lan, the section of the festival devoted to the processes of creativity, production and thought in documentary film. The word Lan —which means "work" or "job" in Basque— gives a name to this space, in which every year Punto de Vista proposes encounters, conversations and professional activities to think about the present and future of non-fiction film.
This year, Lan is to host the dialogue The Future of Film: Mutations and Persistences, a conversation featuring journalist Elsa Fernández Santos as moderator with three of the artistic directors who have marked different stages in the festival: Josetxo Cerdán (2010–2013), Oskar Alegria (2015–2017) and Manuel Asín (2022–2025). As well as them, the programme is to include a range of professional activities in partnership with associations and figures in the industry, among them the illustrated talk by CIMA and (H)emen devoted to the recently departed Mirentxu Loyarte, the Napardocs work groups organised together with the Navarrese production companies association NAPAR and the public presentation of the DokLab Navarra residency projects.
Tickets to all sessions of Punto de Vista will go on sale to the general public at the end of March, on the festival website and at the Baluarte box office. Moreover, passes aimed at professionals, students and the media can be requested online until 10th April.
Dialogues: The Future of Film-Making: Mutations and Persistences
In the two decades that Punto de Vista has existed, film has undergone a historic shift of enormous magnitude. A transformation driven by an unprecedented technological revolution, the horizon of which is as yet hard to discern. Setting out from this premise, the festival proposes a conversation between three of its former artistic directors: Josetxo Cerdán (2010–2013), Oskar Alegria (2015–2017) and Manuel Asín (2022–2025). Through their insights, the session will seek to offer some key talking points to discuss the future of film in the era of audiovisual overload, consider the importance of preserving its legacy and explore possible ways forward in the future for an art that stands at the crossroads. The dialogue is to feature journalist Elsa Fernández-Santos as moderator and will include Miquel Martí Freixas, artistic director of the festival as of this year's edition.
Professional activities
Punto de Vista once again offers, through Lan, different spaces for networking and exchange, aimed at audiovisual industry professionals, directors, producers and associations linked to documentary film.
CIMA and (H)emen work group
Illustrated talk: Looking (from) close up: The echo of Mirentxu Loyarte in contemporary documentary film
This illustrated talk will be devoted to the figure of Mirentxu Loyarte, a pioneer of Basque-Navarrese documentary film. The session will include a screening of her film Irrintzi (1978) and a discussion of her legacy to contemporary film based on the work of researcher and film-maker Iratxe Fresneda, author of the film Irrintziaren oihartzunak (2016). Iratxe Fresneda, artistic director of the festival Miquel Martí Freixas and executive director Teresa Morales de Álava will be taking part.
Napardocs
Punto de Vista and the Navarrese production companies association NAPAR are reinforcing their partnership with a new edition of Napardocs, a space for professional discussion that will bring together creative talents, Navarrese production companies, film-makers and guests at the festival. The programme will be organised in three work groups devoted to different areas of the film-making process —creation, production and distribution— and will be open to both NAPAR members and members of the public with festival passes.
DokLab Navarra
The Navarrese documentary film residency DokLab Navarra is once again partnering with Punto de Vista with a public presentation of the projects going on in its programme. During this session, the people taking part will have the chance to show their work to a jury of industry experts, at an encounter that seeks to encourage professional dialogue and open up new opportunities for developing, financing and publicising projects.
