Now that the Festival’s 8th edition has finished, figures about moviegoers reveal that Punto de Vista, now in the festival format again after the 2012 seminar, is back in shape. This year, the Festival’s activities and events drew 8,490 people, that is, over 2,000 more than in 2011 (6,106), 3,000 more than in 2010 (5,236) and 4,000 more than in 2009 (4,353). This means that the number of attendees doubled in five years.
The chinese film Apuda, by He Yuan, has won the First Prize Punto de Vista for the best film, in the 2013 edition of Punto de Vista film festival. John Smith, author of Dad’s Stick, has been elected best director (Jean Vigo Prize). Toma Dos, by Pilar Alvarez (best short film) and A World not Ours, by Mahdi Fleifel (prize of the Public, are the other two films awarded. The Jury has also decided to give special mentions to the films The Florestine Collection, by Paul Gailiunas and Helen Hill, and El modelo, by Germán Scelso.
This year, Punto de Vista will feature the presentation of three interesting projects for audiences and accredited guests.
Oskar Alegria, director of Emak Bakia baita/La casa Emak Bakia (screening on Wednesday 20), is presenting a very special exhibition. Opening tomorrow, this exhibition shows some of the objects found during the shooting of the film – items going from the screen to the display cabinet to create an additional space for the documentary.
Tomorrow, Tuesday the 19th, a new edition of Punto de Vista will start, Punto de Vista 8. Now, after being an International Seminar last year, it’s back to festival shape, with a programme that will help audiences wonder about and reflect on the world around them.
