The Punto de Vista collection is launching its seventh volume, on German filmmaker Thomas Heise. Edited by Olaf Möller, the book is a patchwork of previously published texts, some of them by Heise himself, for the first time in Spanish/English, and including especially written essays. Other book contents are a dialogue between Thomas’s father, philosopher Wolfgang Heise, and playwright Heiner Müller, and an interview of Thomas Heise by Saskia Walker. In addition, the book includes colour reproductions of Mark Thomann’s posters of Heise’s films.

Fifth volume of the Punto de Vista Collection, and the first one published by the festival in a bilingual edition (Spanish and English).

The book features thirty articles and aims at honouring the filmmaker Jem Cohen from a double perspective. On one hand, through several analysis on his work made by journalists and scholars such as Sandra Lischi, Ed Halter, Sonia García López, Ricardo Roncero or Fran Gayo; on the other, through the participation of some friends who often collaborate with him, like Patti Smith, Andy Moor, Guy Picciotto or Michael Ackerman.

This is the first monography on Jem Cohen ever published, and it also includes a thorough interview with him and a compilation of Polaroid pictures taken by him which are published for the first time.

Since its second edition, the Navarra Documentary Film Festival has published a series of volumes that now make the Punto de Vista Collection, related to some of the festival’s sections. This year, the retrospective "he Afterlife of Images will be complemented by the book "Metraje encontrado: La apropiación en el cine documental y experimental" [Found Footage: Appropriation in Experimental and Documentary Film], by Antonio Weinrichter.

The book reviews the two main film movements involving montage: compilation documentaries and found footage films. It analyses the uses of montage from Soviet and Nazi propaganda to modern compilation movies and comments on the uses of found footage appropriation in both conventional and experimental film.

Ermanno Olmi, Seis encuentros y otros instantes, tercer volumen de la colección Punto de Vista, se presenta como una biografía de la palabra: Olmi sobre Olmi, a lo largo de los últimos cincuenta años.

El libro, primero en castellano dedicado al autor, recoge las reflexiones del director italiano en torno al cine y lo vida, vertidas en entrevistas, cartas y artículos escritos por el propio autor.

El libro se organiza en torno a seis encuentros, seis largas entrevistas concedidas por el director en momentos cruciales de su carrera, el último, precisamente, el anuncio en 2007 de que con Centochiodi abandonaba para siempre el cine de ficción.

Esta "sexta conversación", con la que se cierra el volumen, reunió a Ermanno Olmi con la cineasta Mercedes Álvarez (El cielo gira) el pasado mes de noviembre de 2007.

El libro amalgama estas seis entrevistas con otros fragmentos, cartas, artículos y notas del propio cineasta, que convierten a la publicación en el compendio más acabado de pensamiento cinematográfico de Ermanno Olmi.

The perfect, essential complement to the season of essay-films, the book "The thinking form. Addressing essay-film" is the second book in the Punto de Vista Collection, which got under way last year with "The cinema of a thousand years. A look at the history and aesthetics of Japanese documentary film (1945-2005)".

This new member of the collection is, rather than a straightforward book, a provisional map of an as-of-yet-unmapped terrain, a first attempt (or approach) at defining and setting the limits and characteristics of a new, mutant genre: the essay-film, made with fragments from documentary film, others from avant-garde film, a genre which does not reach conclusions, but tests ideas.

It is also the first theoretical look at the genre to be edited in Spain. In addition to texts written especially for the occasion, it also contains contributions from indispensable, foreign writers, translated into Spanish for the first time.
